There is reportedly support within AEW for the company to sign former WWE Champion Sheamus following his recent entry into free agency.

Sheamus, now working under the name S. Farrelly, became a free agent at the beginning of October after his lengthy run with WWE came to an end.

According to Fightful Select, several veteran names within AEW are pushing for the company to bring Farrelly in. A number of wrestlers who previously worked alongside him are reportedly among those interested in seeing him join the promotion.

Despite that internal support, there is currently no indication that Farrelly has signed with AEW or that substantial negotiations between the two sides have taken place.

AEW and President Tony Khan have generally taken a cautious approach to potential free agents, avoiding discussions with talent until they are contractually permitted to negotiate and sign elsewhere.

AEW also isn’t believed to be Farrelly’s only potential destination. Multiple promotions are reportedly interested in the longtime WWE star, with TNA among those said to have interest now that he is available.

Farrelly spent more than 15 years with WWE after joining the company in 2007. During his tenure, he became a four-time world champion and also captured the United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships.

For now, Farrelly remains a free agent as interest in his next move continues to build.
