WWE’s focus and revenue stream has shifted away from touring in favor of media rights agreements for RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, which has resulted in a significant change to the company’s house shows.
WWE is also compensated handsomely by NBCU for the streaming rights to the WWE Network in the United States via Peacock.
Wrestling used to make a lot of money at live events and sell tickets through television. Nowadays, wrestlers use it to gain ring experience, practice with upcoming opponents, and experiment with new techniques.
On Saturday night, WWE held an NXT live event in Venice, Florida, with Shotzi and Gigi Dolin defeating NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in the main event. Shotzi’s victory earned him the right to challenge Valkyria for the title on NXT television this Tuesday.
Shotzi has returned to NXT from the main roster several times over the years, including hosting the Halloween Havoc event last year. She will wrestle Tiffany Stratton on SmackDown this Friday, with the winner earning a spot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
