Memphis wrestling legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee has passed away at the age of 82.
The unfortunate news was announced on Sunday by Dundee’s son, Jamie, who shared an emotional message on Facebook confirming his father’s passing.
“With a heavy heart ot hurts me to have to say this …At 330 this morning the SUPERSTAR BILL DUNDEE has passed away,” he wrote. “I love you Dad I’ll catch you on the OTHERSIDE……..”
Jamie later followed up with another tribute to his father.
“REST IN PIECE SUPERSTAR …Love Bill’s Boy Jamie Caird (pimpsker),” he added.
In 2023, Jamie revealed during an appearance on Dutch Mantell’s podcast that his father had been battling stage-three dementia.
Known to generations of wrestling fans as “Superstar” Bill Dundee, he became one of the most recognizable and influential performers in the history of the Memphis wrestling territory.
Dundee was particularly synonymous with fellow Memphis icon Jerry “The King” Lawler. Their extensive history saw them work both as fierce rivals and tag-team partners, with the pair playing central roles during some of the territory’s most memorable years.
Dundee’s contributions to Memphis wrestling were formally recognized in 2017 when he was inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame.
His passing marks the loss of one of the defining personalities of the Memphis wrestling era and a performer whose legacy remained closely connected to the territory decades after its heyday.
