Wrestling Prodigies That Have Come From Canada

Wrestling is undoubtedly one of the most popular forms of sport and entertainment on the planet. Its pull is global. And with this, there are wrestlers from all over the world plying their trade in the likes of the WWE. While many could be fooled into thinking wrestling stars are all from the US, there are plenty from elsewhere, with Canada very much a hotbed of past, present and future talent.

Bret Hart

We kick off our list of the who’s who of wrestling prodigies out of Canada with arguably the most famous of them all. Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart is a WWE Hall of Famer because he’s been there and done it all. He’s won multiple world titles and headlined the biggest show of them all in Wrestlemania, and the Calgary star is arguably the best in-ring technician of all time.

Chris Jericho

Like Hart, Chris Jericho is billed as being from Calgary, currently plies his trade with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), but many will know him from his days with the WWE. He’s another wrestler who has enjoyed a glittering career, with world titles to his name and headlining Wrestlemania, another of his many achievements. The Walls of Jericho, his finishing move, is still regarded as one of the most iconic and reputable operators offering several betting markets will always have ‘to win by submission’ available when Jericho’s on the bill.

Edge

You could suggest that Edge is a wrestler who many love to hate. But, all his haters over the years have come to love him. Born in Ontario, Edge is most famous for being the tag team partner of fellow Canadian Christian. The duo formed one of the best tag team partnerships of all time, but Edge was fantastic in his own right and a multiple-time world titleholder. Like Jericho, Edge’s finisher, The Spear, is one that everyone loves to see and act out themselves.

Christian

We couldn’t mention Edge and then not give Christian his rightful place on our list. Many who have watched Christian’s career during his time with the WWE will tell you he never got the credit he deserved and was a more than capable wrestler in his own right. However, as we said previously, his link-up with Edge is what put Christian on the map. And their battle with The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz in a TLC match at Wrestlemania is iconic.

Owen Hart

Owen Hart is the type of guy who everyone loved. Like others from the Hart wrestling family, but especially brother Bret, Owen Hart had the in-ring ability that would rival anyone. However, some will say he had a bit more athleticism to his game than Bret, and when the duo met at Wrestlemania X, it was like watching two masters at work. Unfortunately, his untimely passing in 1999 cut short what had already been a fantastic career, ahead of what could have been even better.
