WWE Smackdown Review – February 23, 2024
Tiffany Stratton vs. Liv Morgan
Tiffany Stratton rolls out of the ring as she makes her way to the back but Liv Morgan drags her back to ringside and tosses her into the steps.
She dumps her back in the ring then charges at her in the corner.
Stratton sends her crashing into the turnbuckle then hits her with a clothesline and lands a forearm on her spine then sends her crashing into adjacent top turnbuckles face first.
Morgan responds with a backstabber but Stratton connects with a boot and a double stomp.
Morgan then hits a Crucifix Bomb on Stratton but Stratton rolls out of the ring as we go to a break.
After the break Stratton lands a forearm before Morgan responds with several right hands but Stratton catches her with a knee to her midsection.
Morgan lands an enzuigiri and kips up then connects with a step up knee and a Codebreaker off the middle rope.
Stratton responds with a powerbomb and drags Morgan into the corner then sets up for Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Morgan avoids it and plants Stratton then looks for a Codebreaker.
Stratton avoids it and lands an Alabama Slam then drags her into the corner and looks for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for a 2nd time.
Morgan prevents her from landing it once again before the action spills to the outside and Stratton sends Morgan’s face bouncing off the apron.
She clocks Bianca BelAir leading to Belair hopping up on the apron.
Morgan rolls up Stratton but the referee doesn’t see the fall as he is distracted by BelAir.
Stratton sends Morgan crashing into BelAir and rolls her up for the win.
Winner: Tiffany Stratton
We then head backstage and see Bobby Lashley come face 2 face with Drew McIntyre.
After the break we head over to a video of Cedric Alexander trying on looks at Ashante Thee Adonis’ house.
We then head over to The Bloodline’s dressing room and see Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns question Jimmy Uso about who told him to cost Jey Uso his match on Raw this past Monday. Jimmy says it was Paul Heyman & Reigns clarifies that it was him. Heyman then walks in and informs Reigns that Grayson Waller is here to see him.
NXT Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker vs. Dante Chen
Bron Breakker sends Dante Chen crashing into the mat before Chen lands a dropkick but Breakker runs him over with a shoulder tackle and follows it up with a clothesline.
Chen connects with a jawbreaker off the top rope then looks to fly but Breakker catches him with a powerslam mid air and a spear for the win.
Winner: NXT Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker
After the break we see Elektra Lopez approach Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro to tell them they made the wrong decision in not following Santos Escobar. Angel & Humberto then blindside them before Escobar appears to reiterate Lopez’s message.
Tag Team Match
New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate) vs. Judgement Day (Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh)
Tyler Bate & JD McDonagh lock up before McDonagh connects with a shoulder tackle but Bate hits a hurricanrana using the ropes that sends McDonagh crashing to the outside.
Pete Dunne tags in and New Catch Republic delivers a double back body drop. Bate tags in and Dunne hits a stomp to McDonagh.
Bate dumps McDonagh onto the apron but McDonagh trips him and tags in Dominik Mysterio & he hits a right hand to Bate then tags out to McDonagh.
McDonagh hits a boot to Bate’s midsection and tags Mysterio back in.
Bate delivers an uppercut to McDonagh before Dunne tags in and levels him.
He delivers the double knees to Mysterio’s forearm and begins to target his fingers.
He sends Dominik’s knee repeatedly crashing into the mat then stomps on his ankle.
Bate tags in and hits a stomp with Dunne as we go to a break.
After the break Mysterio tags in and fires off stomps on Bate in the corner then hits 3 Amigos but Bate reverses into a delayed vertical suplex when Mysterio tries connecting with the 3rd suplex.
Dunne & McDonagh tag in and Dunne lands a pair of enzuigiris on McDonagh.
He then stomps on his hand and delivers a kick to his head before he sends McDonagh crashing into the mat and connects with a chop.
Bate becomes legal and looks to land a double suplex on McDonagh but Mysterio saves McDonagh.
New Catch Republic then fire off right and left hands on him and Bate hits Airplane Spin to Mysterio.
He sends him crashing out of the ring and McDonagh tries to roll him up but Bate counters into an airplane spin on McDonagh.
Dunne tags in and hits a German suplex/rebound clothesline combination with Bate.
Dunne goes for a pin but Mysterio breaks the fall so Bate sends him crashing to the outside and Dunne sends Mysterio out there to join him.
McDonagh looks for a headbutt but Dunne counters into a forearm.
McDonagh hits a Spanish Fly and a headbutt and Mysterio dials it up for the 619 on Dunne while McDonagh distracts the referee.
Bate takes care of Mysterio on the outside and becomes legal & New Catch Republic then hits double Tyler Driver 97 for the win.
Winners: New Catch Republic
After the match Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & Mr Money In The Bank Damian Priest march down to the ring. Bate levels Balor but Priest looks to land a chokeslam on him & Dunne but they fight him off but Priest & Balor slide inside the ring. New Catch Republic then slide back out.
We then head backstage and see Kevin Owens encounter United States Champion Logan Paul & A Town Down Under Paul Heyman then walks in and tells Waller that Roman Reigns wants to see him.
After the break we see Dakota Kai being helped to the medical office.
Tag Team Match
Authors Of Pain (Akam & Rezar) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
Montez Ford connects with a dropkick before Akam fires off a few right hands before Rezar tags in and hits a right hand to Ford’s spine.
Angelo Dawkins tags in and sends Ford crashing on top of Rezar. Akam tags back in and fires off right and left hands on Dawkins’ midsection as Rezar holds him in place.
Dawkins sends Authors Of Pain crashing out of the ring then flies over the top rope to level them as we go to a break.
After the break Akam tags in and jams his knee into the back of Ford’s neck.
Rezar becomes legal and hits a boot to Ford’s midsection before Rezar continues wearing down Ford but Ford sends him crashing down into the ring post shoulder first.
Dawkins & Akam tag in and Dawkins levels Akam before Dawkins hits a splash into the corner then hits a twisting neckbreaker.
He gets Akam up on his shoulders but Akam escapes and delivers a boot. Rezar tags in and AOP double teams on Dawkins.
Akam & Ford then become legal and Dawkins gets Akam on his shoulders. Ford ascends to the top rope and Street Profits hits a Super Blockbuster to him.
Dawkins & Rezar send one another crashing to the outside and Ford lands an enzuigiri.
He ascends to the top rope but Karrion Kross trips him as Scarlett distracts the referee.
B Fab pulls her off as Bobby Lashley goes after Karrion Kross as he sends him crashing over the barricade and fires off right hands but Kross sends his arm crashing into the ring post twice and uses a chair to target it.
Ford then looks to go after Kross but Akam clocks him. Rezar tags in and AOP lands their finisher for the win.
Winners: Authors Of Pain
We then head backstage and see 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner Bayley check on Dakota Kai in the medical room. She asks for a minute alone with Kai & Nick Aldis and the doctor leave. Bayley asks Kai what happen and she explains that Damage CTRL attacked her. Bayley says she should’ve seen this coming and says Damage CTRL won’t get away with this. Kai tells Bayley that they’ll make them pay and Bayley hugs Kai.
After the break we see Grayson Waller meet with Roman Reigns and say that what he’s about to tell him is for his ears only.
LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre
Match starts off with a lock up before Drew McIntyre connects with a chop but LA Knight responds with a twisting neckbreaker and several boots in the corner and a clothesline off the apron on the outside.
He fires off a right hand on McIntyre but McIntyre responds with a belly 2 belly suplex.
Kevin Owens takes a seat at the commentary table opposite Paul as McIntyre catapults Knight into the bottom of the ring as we go to a break.
After the break McIntyre fires off a few right hands on Knight before McIntyre hits a chop to Knight in the corner then tosses him across the ring and stomps on him.
He whips him into the corner, but Knight catches him with a pair of boots and fires off right and left hands on him.
He follows it up with an Atomic Drop and a clothesline then hits a DDT and looks for BFT.
McIntyre blocks him from landing it and ascends to the top rope but Knight meets him up there and delivers a superplex.
McIntyre hits a boot to Knight’s midsection then connects with Future Shock DDT and sets up for Claymore.
Knight ducks out of the way and sends McIntyre’s head repeatedly bouncing off the announce table.
Knight gets in Paul’s face and McIntyre hits a right hand to his midsection.
He then sends Knight crashing into Owens and dumps him back in the ring but Owens goes after him and the referee calls for the bell.
Winner By DQ: Drew McIntyre
After the match McIntyre sends Owens crashing into Paul but Knight fires off right hands on him. He & McIntyre then continue brawling as Owens and Paul do the same. Bobby Lashley connects with a spear on Knight but Paul goes after him. Lashley lands a spear on Owens, but walks into a Claymore from McIntyre. Randy Orton then appears in the ring and hits an RKO to McIntyre. He stands tall to close out this week’s Smackdown.
