WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca appeared on Busted Open Radio to discuss various topics, including her childhood as a fan of professional wrestling.
Ruca said, โNope, not at all. I have, like, zero pro wrestling background. I honestly like being here now. I wish I wouldโve known about it sooner because I think I wouldโve been like โThis is what I wanna do.โโ
On how she was discovered by WWE:
โAt the time, I was living in Hawaii, I was doing social media full-time, with personal training. I was working with brands, I was โ like โ posting flips and tricks on the beach, that was kinda, like, my niche โ like โ little content that I would post and I would get sponsored by brandsโฆ Got the DM, and I was like: I donโt know about thisโฆ Is this like UFC? โ I thought it was, like, the same thing โ I donโt know how to fight? I donโt want to do that.โ
On researching the industry:
โAnd I, like, Googled, like, โformer gymnastโ โ like, someone who had the same background as me โ and saw Kacy Catanzaro โ Katana Chance โ and I was like โOkay! Like, this is sick! Like, Iโll give it a try!โ Itโs a free trip to Florida, like, might as well do it! If I donโt make it, itโs a hell of a story to tell people.โ
