Cash Wheeler was notably absent from the June 18th, 2025 edition of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Mexico, a landmark event held at the legendary Arena México. Despite being advertised for the show, Wheeler did not appear during the highly anticipated 12-man tag team match, leaving fans wondering about his status.
His longtime tag partner Dax Harwood did appear, accompanied by FTR’s manager Stokely Hathaway. As Harwood made his entrance for the match, Hathaway addressed the live crowd and provided a brief, cryptic explanation for Wheeler’s absence:
“Cash couldn’t be here tonight for reasons that were out of his control.”
No further details were shared, and AEW has yet to issue an official statement regarding the nature of Wheeler’s absence or when he is expected to return.
FTR is one of AEW’s most decorated and popular tag teams, and Wheeler’s absence from such a major international event has raised concern among fans online. Dax Harwood went on to compete in the match without his partner, making the situation even more unexpected given the high stakes and scale of the event.
