Wrestling legend and AEW announcer Jim Ross has provided an encouraging update regarding his health following recent surgery for colon cancer. Speaking on a new episode of his โGrilling JRโ podcast โ and appearing on camera for the first time since the procedure โ Ross stated he believes โthe worst is behind meโ and is targeting a return at AEWโs All In: Texas on Saturday, July 12, at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
โJust healing, man, just trying to heal and get better,โ Ross began. โI had a meeting with my surgeon earlier this week. Heโs very happy, which makes me very happyโฆ I believe they got all the cancer, which is great. So, you know, Iโm very blessed in that regard. I was scared to death for a while, to be honest with you.โ
Ross confirmed his goal is to return to commentary for AEWโs first-ever stadium event in the U.S., telling co-host Conrad Thompson heโs optimistic about making it happen.
โIs that a little too ambitious?โ Thompson asked.
โNo, I donโt think itโs too ambitious. I think itโs realistic,โ Ross replied.
โIโm hopeful that thatโs what happens. Iโd love to be a part of that event and see the fans and see the talents. I miss the talents a lotโฆ My plan is to be there.โ
JR also took a moment to thank fans for their ongoing support.
โThe outpouring of support has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it really makes me feel goodโฆ People care about me, and they know I care about them. All the support that Iโve been given is pretty amazing.โ
