Wrestling legend and AEW announcer Jim Ross has provided an encouraging update regarding his health following recent surgery for colon cancer. Speaking on a new episode of his โ€œGrilling JRโ€ podcast โ€” and appearing on camera for the first time since the procedure โ€” Ross stated he believes โ€œthe worst is behind meโ€ and is targeting a return at AEWโ€™s All In: Texas on Saturday, July 12, at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

โ€œJust healing, man, just trying to heal and get better,โ€ Ross began. โ€œI had a meeting with my surgeon earlier this week. Heโ€™s very happy, which makes me very happyโ€ฆ I believe they got all the cancer, which is great. So, you know, Iโ€™m very blessed in that regard. I was scared to death for a while, to be honest with you.โ€

Ross confirmed his goal is to return to commentary for AEWโ€™s first-ever stadium event in the U.S., telling co-host Conrad Thompson heโ€™s optimistic about making it happen.

โ€œIs that a little too ambitious?โ€ Thompson asked.
โ€œNo, I donโ€™t think itโ€™s too ambitious. I think itโ€™s realistic,โ€ Ross replied.
โ€œIโ€™m hopeful that thatโ€™s what happens. Iโ€™d love to be a part of that event and see the fans and see the talents. I miss the talents a lotโ€ฆ My plan is to be there.โ€

JR also took a moment to thank fans for their ongoing support.

โ€œThe outpouring of support has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it really makes me feel goodโ€ฆ People care about me, and they know I care about them. All the support that Iโ€™ve been given is pretty amazing.โ€
