Charlotte Flair Reacts To Plastic Surgery Criticism

Ahead of her highly anticipated appearance at WWE Evolution 2, Charlotte Flair has written one of the most personal pieces of her career. In a new essay for The Player’s Tribune, the 14-time women’s world champion directly addressed the years of criticism she’s received online regarding her appearance, plastic surgery accusations, and how it feels to have her hard work constantly dismissed.

Flair opened up about the emotional toll these comments have taken, recalling a time she was in peak physical condition and was met with harsh online speculation.

“Her whole body is fake,” one message read. Another fan said, “She looks like her DAD in a WIG.”

“I’ve dealt with stuff like that my whole career … but I try not to take it personally,” Flair wrote. “On some level, I get it: I’m (relatively) famous, and I make a very good living from work that involves showing off my body. I get that certain things just come with that territory… But it really is wild.”

In the piece, Flair — real name Ashley Fliehr — explained the disconnect between her WWE persona and her real-life identity.

“Charlotte Flair … She’s the QUEEN!!! She’s the villain. She’s supremely confident, and she never gets rattled. She thrives on you booing her — thrives on you hating her… But I’m not Charlotte Flair.”

“I’m Ashley. I’m a daughter. A friend. A wife. And I’ve fought hard to love the woman I see in the mirror — not because of what she looks like, but because of what she’s been through.”

Flair said that even as fans become smarter about the wrestling business, many still forget one essential truth: the person you see in the ring isn’t the same as the person living the life.

Charlotte Flair’s essay comes just days before she competes at WWE Evolution 2, the long-awaited second installment of WWE’s all-women premium live event.

Flair is set to team with Alexa Bliss in a fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. The match marks a rare tag appearance for “The Queen,” and her first televised match since returning from injury earlier this year.
