WWE Hall of Famer JBL was featured on an episode of Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard, where he discussed various topics, including whether he believes fellow WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin would wrestle again.
JBL said, “I would bet against a match, is my guess. But I would bet as far as a stunners that come in. And I don’t know when, and you know, WrestleMania, maybe tonight. Have no idea, you know, maybe, maybe that’s all things ruse, I don’t know. I would bet Stunners, you know, just the itch to get out there and do something.”
On Austin’s WrestleMania 38 Match with Kevin Owens:
“The problem with Steve though is, you know, that WrestleMania match with Kevin Owens, Vince wanted just basically a stunner. And Steve said, ‘No.’ And I remember seeing Steve working on some stuff like the day before. And I said, ‘How long you been working out?’ And he said, ‘About 20 minutes.’ He had not been wrestling. You know, he had not worked out. I thought he like been in a match before that. He just took that match last minute and went out there and had, I thought, a hell of a match with Kevin. Kevin’s a good worker, really great worker. But I thought he had a hell of a match. That’s Steve.”
On Austin as a performer:
“I say this all the time about Steve. When he was on top, you couldn’t get him to go 20 minutes. He goes 30 minutes, 40 minutes, whatever it was. Then sit out there, and drink beers for another 20 minutes. He’d be out there forever, because he loved performing. And so if Steve ever gets out there, it may be a lot more than a stunner. I’ve been out there with him when Vince has told us, ‘Nothing physical this, this, that.’ All of a sudden, Steve wants to do a whole bunch of stuff, which I did, too. And Steve ends up doing it. So I think if Steve ever gets out there, it may be more than stutters.”
