As PWMania.com previously reported, WWE recently announced that the 2027 Royal Rumble premium live event (PLE) will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in February, although a specific date has not yet been revealed. This announcement is part of a multi-year partnership between TKO, the Arizona Sports and Events Alliance, and Legends Global.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the stadium will have a capacity of approximately 58,000. The timing of this announcement has sparked some speculation online, as it follows closely on the heels of AEW’s Full Gear event, which was announced for nearby Phoenix, Arizona.
WWE has a reputation for scheduling NXT PLEs to coincide with AEW pay-per-views, and some have suggested that this might be an attempt to attract potential audiences away from AEW. However, the report clarifies that Arizona actively sought WWE for this event and is paying TKO to host it. This arrangement is part of a three-year deal that allows Arizona to host seven events featuring WWE, the UFC, and Professional Bull Riding.
It has also been confirmed that the 2027 Royal Rumble PLE will not be a two-night event, despite some interest within WWE in expanding the show to two nights, similar to how WrestleMania and SummerSlam are organized.
