As reported by PWMania.com, AEW commentator and part-time in-ring competitor Nigel McGuinness suffered an injury during the main event of Saturday’s episode of Collision. This was revealed by longtime commentator Tony Schiavone during McGuinness’ match against Katsuyori Shibata in the Continental Challenge Cup Tournament. Although McGuinness won the match, it was reported that he could be out of the tournament due to his injury.

Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that sources confirm McGuinness’ injury is legitimate, and he will be unable to continue in the tournament. The specific details of the injury and when it occurred remain unclear, but he appeared to be in pain after blocking Shibata’s PK.

AEW plans to reveal the blind draw for the quarterfinal matches soon in a video on their YouTube account. They are also expected to provide an official update on McGuinness’ status and potential replacement at that time. Additionally, McGuinness is scheduled to face Lee Moriarty for the ROH Pure Championship at Death Before Dishonor this Friday, but it remains uncertain whether he will be able to participate in that match.
