According to News Channel 3, the city of Memphis, Tennessee, has officially renamed a street in honor of pro wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler. Recently, Homer Street was renamed Jerry “The King” Lawler Street to celebrate his contributions.

PWInsider.com reports that fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart, along with Memphis wrestling veterans Dave Brown, Bill Dundee, and King Cobra, attended the ceremony. Additionally, someone dressed as Lawler’s favorite superhero, Superman, was present.

A wrestling ring was set up at the event, and Lawler expressed amusement at its presence, stating, “Nice to look at, but I’m not going to get into it today.” During the ceremony, Lawler also spoke about pursuing dreams, saying, “If you’re thinking about doing something serious, keep your mind straight and pull that strap down, and it’s all yours after that.”

Lawler has received numerous accolades throughout his illustrious pro wrestling career. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by William Shatner in 2007 and is a former AWA World Heavyweight Champion as well as a two-time USWA Heavyweight Champion.
