Backstage Update On TNA’s Interest In Josh Bishop And J-Rod

On Sunday, top independent wrestlers Josh Bishop and J-Rod attended TNA Lockdown. Both have previously participated in WWE’s SummerSlam tryouts, leading to speculation that TNA might be interested in signing them.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, TNA remains interested in both talents. Additionally, TNA is closely examining Fourth Rope, an indie promotion run by rapper Westside Gunn. Sapp noted that TNA’s initial interest in Bishop stemmed from Fourth Rope, which also introduced them to Joe Alonzo. Alonzo was recently signed after winning a match during Lockdown against Home Town Man, with the stipulation that if he won, he would earn a TNA contract from Santino Marella—and he did.

Zilla Fatu, who was recently signed to NXT, revealed last year that one of his favorite matches took place in Fourth Rope against former WWE star Enzo Amore. Clearly, it’s a promotion that merits attention—not just from TNA’s talent scouts. J-Rod, a four-year pro wrestling veteran, is currently known as Supernova on American Gladiators, while Bishop has previously worked with TNA on a per-appearance basis.
