Charlotte Flair has accomplished almost everything possible during her WWE career, but there is still one type of storyline “The Queen” would like the opportunity to explore.
Despite her lengthy run at the top of WWE’s women’s division, Flair has never been paired with a male Superstar in an on-screen romantic storyline. After previously expressing interest in the idea, she has now explained why she believes it could allow fans to see a different side of her character.
Speaking with Ilona Maher on Power Hour, Flair was asked whether she believes a romantic storyline could actually happen. “I don’t know,” Flair said. “I put it into the universe. Let’s see if it catches. I just have never been paired with a male or have ever had a ‘heyyy.’”
For Flair, the appeal isn’t simply about having an on-screen relationship. She believes it would give her an opportunity to explore something considerably different from the fiercely independent and dominant character she has traditionally portrayed throughout her WWE career. “It’d just be so fun for me,” she continued. “A couple of my fans were like, ‘There is no one good enough for the Queen,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, that is the greatest line.’”
Flair also believes the storyline could help showcase a lighter and more playful element of her personality that viewers haven’t often seen on WWE television. “We’re so independent; we don’t need a male,” Flair said. “But I thought it would be fun to show that, ‘Hey, I’m not so cold. I can be flirty.’”
There is currently no indication that WWE has plans to pair Flair with a male Superstar romantically. For now, the idea is something Flair herself has put “into the universe” as a potential way of adding another dimension to The Queen’s character.
