WWE’s ongoing issues with Netflix censorship have reportedly caused frustration among members of the company’s post-production team.
Earlier this week, Paul “Triple H” Levesque released uncensored footage of Royce Keys and OTM’s attack on Jey Uso from the August 31, 2026 episode of WWE Raw. The version that aired on Netflix had portions of the violent angle obscured.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, some members of WWE’s post-production department feel “handcuffed” by the restrictions being imposed by Netflix.
WWE was reportedly aware of the parameters it would be working under with the streaming service. However, some within the company apparently did not anticipate the restrictions being as extensive as they have proven to be.
The decision to subsequently release the uncensored version of the Jey Uso attack on social media was reportedly unanimous internally.
Those involved are said to have believed that seeing the complete footage was important to the storyline and that fans needed the opportunity to watch the angle as it was originally intended.
WWE reportedly wanted the unedited version made available, with those involved agreeing that the original footage should be seen rather than allowing the censored Netflix presentation to be the only version available to viewers.
However, another source questioned whether WWE should have avoided the situation entirely by saving an angle of that nature for an episode of Raw airing live rather than a taped broadcast subject to post-production restrictions.
Netflix’s handling of taped WWE programming has attracted attention on multiple occasions, with certain language, gestures and violent imagery being edited or obscured before reaching viewers.
The latest report suggests that while WWE understood Netflix would have content parameters, the extent of those limitations has created some frustration behind the scenes.
