Charlotte Flair says managing her father’s relationship with social media has become an almost daily battle — including repeatedly convincing Ric Flair that AI-generated images aren’t real.
During an appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story?, Charlotte was asked how her father was doing. After saying the WWE Hall of Famer is doing well, she immediately turned to his social media habits. “The amount that we fight about his social media, I cannot tell you. It is a daily thing,” she said. “And then I’m like, why are you in all caps? Why are you yelling at me in your post?”
Charlotte said some of their disagreements begin when Ric comes across something online and reacts to it without considering where the information originated. “I’m like, who are you fighting with? I’m just confused,” Flair said. “He’s like, well, I saw it here. And I’m like, seven people follow that website.”
One recurring problem involves artificial intelligence. Charlotte revealed that her father has sent her fabricated images involving himself and other people, believing they were genuine. “I have to tell him daily, that AI image is not real,” she said. “He has sent me pictures of him and other people, and I’m like, that didn’t happen. That is not real. I told you this happened. I can’t make this up.”
Charlotte also carefully considers whether publicly responding to one of her father’s posts will make matters worse by drawing additional attention to it. “I comment sometimes, but if it’s really bad, I won’t comment because I don’t want to draw attention. Sometimes I just have to make a joke out of it,” she said.
She additionally keeps an eye out for accounts impersonating Ric and reports them when they surface.
Charlotte said a conversation with Natalya eventually helped change how she approaches her father’s outspoken opinions. While discussing Ric and Natalya’s uncle Bret Hart, Natalya offered a different perspective. “She was talking about Bret, and I was talking about my dad, and we were just yapping back and forth,” Flair said. “And she was like, you know what, he’s earned that right to have an opinion. I was like, okay, that’s one way to look at it. I’ll just let him have his opinion.”
Despite their disagreements, Charlotte understands where her father’s passion comes from. “I know he is my biggest fan,” she said.
Asked whether she would prefer to simply take control of Ric’s social media login, Charlotte quickly dismissed the idea. “I don’t want that responsibility.”
Ric’s social media activity drew attention again this week following AEW All In: London. On September 2, the 77-year-old commented on Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship match, saying that comparing the pair to his legendary matches with Ricky Steamboat was like “comparing the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean.”
Ric later clarified that he thoroughly enjoyed the match and has nothing but respect for Ospreay and Omega after Jim Ross and others responded to his original remarks.
Elsewhere in the interview, Charlotte revealed that her parents, who divorced in 2005, now spend holidays including Thanksgiving and Christmas together. “They could have saved me 25 years of therapy had we just not gone through all of this,” she said. “But now we all hang out, and it’s great.”
