Former AEW World Tag Team and World Trios Champion Anthony Bowens has revealed that he is currently dealing with a partially torn meniscus in his right knee, adding to a lengthy history of injuries throughout his professional wrestling career.
Speaking during a recent interview with Michael Fairman, Bowens discussed the physical toll wrestling has taken on his body, recalling several significant medical setbacks while revealing his latest knee issue.
“I’ve had a few diagnosed concussions,” Bowens stated. “I’m sure there’s been undiagnosed. I’ve had a seizure in the ring. My MCL’s torn; it had to be repaired. I currently have a slightly torn meniscus in my right knee.”
Bowens also revealed that he previously underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, while recalling an incident that resulted in nerve damage in his lower back.
“My left meniscus got torn and I had to have that repaired,” he continued. “Let’s see, I bruised nerves in my lower back once. That’s what I could think of off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s a lot more.”
The former Acclaimed member did not provide a recovery timetable for his current injury or indicate whether additional surgery would be necessary.
It also remains unclear whether the knee issue will affect his immediate in-ring availability.
The revelation comes amid uncertainty surrounding Bowens’ professional wrestling future following reports that he and former tag team partner Max Caster became free agents when their AEW contracts expired earlier this month.
Despite those reports, Bowens continues to appear on AEW’s official online roster.
Caster, meanwhile, recently made his TNA Wrestling debut at Bound For Glory 2026 on October 11, answering an open challenge from former TNA World Champion Moose.
Caster lost the match but generated considerable controversy over his entrance rap, which included a reference to the deadly attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The remark drew criticism from fans, with some describing the reference as insensitive given the recent loss of life.
TNA subsequently announced that it had cut ties with Caster following the controversy, ending his association with the promotion just one day after his debut.
Bowens and Caster previously enjoyed considerable success together as The Acclaimed, capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship before joining Billy Gunn to win the AEW World Trios Championship.
The trio held the Trios titles for a record 238 days.
With Bowens’ reported free agency and current knee injury, questions remain regarding his next move in professional wrestling.
For now, Bowens has not announced any plans for his future or confirmed whether his latest injury will require him to take time away from the ring.
