As PWMania.com previously reported, the merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) was completed earlier this month, resulting in a new combined company named Skydance, with David Ellison serving as chairman and CEO. Tony Khan has mentioned his discussions with Ellison, noting that Ellison supports AEW and believes the company will thrive after the merger.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently met with Skydance executives in Los Angeles, California, and emerged from the meetings extremely pleased. While Meltzer did not disclose any specific details about the discussions, he highlighted that Khan appeared much happier than he had been in the past. Khan has consistently expressed his satisfaction with the relationship since its inception, but following these meetings, he seemed happier than ever.
Meltzer also mentioned that Skydance had already made two moves related to wrestling, although neither appeared positive.
