A legendary chapter in Japanese pro wrestling will soon come to a close.
Tiger Mask IV, one of the most iconic figures in New Japan Pro-Wrestling history, has announced that he will officially retire from professional wrestling in July 2026. The announcement was made during a backstage interview at NJPW Soul Night Nine, marking the beginning of the end for a career that spans over three decades.
Tiger Mask IV made his in-ring debut in 1995, carrying forward the legacy of the legendary Tiger Mask persona. Over his celebrated 31-year career, he has become a cornerstone of NJPW’s junior heavyweight division and is widely respected for his technical prowess and consistent performance.
The veteran star is a Six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, and two-time Best of the Super Juniors tournament winner
Tiger Mask IV’s retirement will symbolize the end of an era for NJPW, as he is the longest-tenured performer to wear the Tiger Mask mantle. His retirement is expected to be commemorated with special events and tributes leading up to July 2026.
