Wednesday’s combined episode of AEW Dynamite and Collision featured pro wrestling legend “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland, who delivered a promo in the ring after defeating Josh Alexander to qualify for the Clockwork Carnage Match at WrestleDream.
Copeland reflected on the challenging few weeks he has faced, mentioning that Christian Cage suffered three broken ribs and a punctured lung just five minutes into the World Tag Team Championship Match at AEW All Out, yet still completed the match. He shared that, with Cage sidelined, he has been doing some soul-searching, acknowledging that he is aging and that 2027 will be his final year in wrestling. While he understands that fans may not like this news, he feels it is time for him to pursue the AEW World Championship.
Copeland will be joining Will Ospreay, Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet, and Darby Allin in the match at WrestleDream on Saturday.
