AEW Rampage Review – October 27, 2023
No Disqualification Match
Mike Santana vs. Ortiz
Mike Santana lands a forearm before Ortiz catches him with a dropkick and goes flying out of the ring to level him on the outside. Ortiz rains down right hands and grabs the lid of a garbage can from under the ring.
He cracks it across Santana’s spine then grabs the garbage can itself and does the same thing.
He finds a kendo stick and cracks it across Santana’s knee then sends him crashing into the barricade and hits him with the garbage can once again.
Santana & Ortiz slap one another before Santana suplexes Ortiz back inside the ring before Ortiz slides back out of the ring and Santana lands an Asai Moonsault.
He hits Ortiz’s head with the garbage can but Ortiz powerbombs him through a table on the outside and tosses him back in the ring then goes for a pin but Santana kicks out and suplexes him off the apron and onto a pile of chairs on the outside as we go to a break.
After the break Santana & Ortiz land headbutts on one another before exchanging right hand strikes in the center of the ring before Ortiz lands a German suplex and Santana returns the favor.
Ortiz lands a dropkick but Santana catches him with a neckbreaker and sets up for a discus clothesline before Ortiz counters into a powerslam and a vertical suplex then exchanges more strikes with Santana and rolls him up.
Santana kicks out and lands a discus lariat then delivers a cannonball and gets him up on his shoulders then plants him with a powerbomb for the win.
Winner: Mike Santana
After the match Santana looks to fist bump Ortiz but Ortiz declines to do so. Santana leaves as Sonjay Dutt makes his way into the ring to talk to Ortiz then they head to the back together.
We then head over to a video hyping up the AEW World Title match between MJF & Kenny Omega tomorrow night on Collision including clips from both men addressing one another directly.
Following the video we see Kenny Omega being visited by Jay White & Don Callis offering the help of The Don Callis Family to MJF for the match to which Omega assures him that he’ll be fine on his own.
After the break we see TBS Champion Kris Statlander confront Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale about their behavior after being sprayed with black mist by Julia Hart. Nightingale admits she’s feeling weird but it hasn’t affected who she is. Blue takes the opposite approach and insists that she’s perfectly normal.
Sabian talks about Philadelphia being a big sports city and ragging on their sports teams then tells the fans to put their money on James Harden. Mark Briscoe’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring in his return to AEW as Sabian takes a few shots at Briscoe and asks him what he wants and Briscoe responds by clocking him. He delivers a few chops and an elbow strike before clotheslining him out of the ring.
Women’s Title #1 Contenders Fatal 4 Way Match
Willow Nightingale vs. Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay vs. Abadon
Anna Jay slides out of the ring as Willow Nightingale & Skye Blue attack Abadon in the ring before Abadon lands a suplex on Blue then delivers a jawbreaker to Jay off the top rope.
Nightingale gets Abadon up on her shoulders but Abadon escapes and delivers a double chop block to Blue & Nightingale.
They then land a double lung blower to both women as Toni Storm makes her way out to ringside along with Luther The Butler to watch the action as Jay lands a hip attack on Abadon in the corner as we go to a break.
After the break Abandon & Blue exchange forearms but Nightingale levels them both with a dropkick off the ropes then she takes turns landing strikes on both competitors in opposite corners but Jay catches her with an elbow.
Nightingale lands a shoulder pounce on Jay to level her until Blue delivers a crossbody to take out Nightingale.
Nightingale delivers a spinebuster to Jay and goes for a pin but Blue breaks the fall and sets up for Code Blue but Nightingale evades it and Blue sends her into the ring post shoulder first.
Blue & Jay go after Abadon but they land forearms on both women. Jay looks to lock in Queen Slayer on Abadon but Blue breaks the hold with a thrust kick and runs the ropes.
Nightingale pulls Blue out of the ring and Jay looks to lock in the Queen Slayer on Abadon before Abadon then connects with Black Dahlia on Jay to pick up the win.
Winner & #1 Contender To The Women’s Title: Abadon
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kyle Fletcher
Match starts off with a lock up then Konosuke Takeshita hits an arm drag and looks for a Blue Thunder Bomb but Kyle Fletcher prevents him from doing so.
Fletcher sends Takeshita crashing into the mat then sends him over the barricade before dragging him back inside the ring.
He ascends to the top rope and looks to go flying but Takeshita moves out of the way and hits a Blue Thunder Bomb as we go to a break.
After the break Takeshita connects with a back elbow on Fletcher then follows it up with a jumping knee to the back of his neck but Fletcher catches him with a kick and a tope suicida on the outside.
They get back in the ring and Fletcher ascends to the top before landing a crossbody off the top rope then looks to hit a half & half suplex but Takeshita rolls through and lands a lariat that flattens Fletcher.
Fletcher fires back with a Brainbuster and looks for an avalanche Michinoku Driver but Takeshita evades the move and plants Fletcher.
He follows it up with a German suplex and a jumping knee strike before connecting with a running knee for the win.
Winner: Konosuke Takeshita
After the match Don Callis & Powerhouse Hobbs join Takeshita in the ring to raise his hand. Fletcher grabs a chair and cracks it across Takeshita’s spine then does the same to Hobbs but Hobbs stays standing and goes after Fletcher. Callis breaks them apart and invites Fletcher to join The Don Callis Family as Fletcher leaves the ring with them.
