As PWMania.com previously stated, former AEW star CM Punk reportedly wanted to return to WWE, but the company “turned him down” and he is not expected to return for the time being. Despite the reports, fans continue to speculate about Punk possibly returning to WWE.
There have been several seemingly subtle references to Punk on WWE television in recent months.
Corey Graves said on commentary during the November 24th, 2023 episode of WWE Smackdown: “Kevin Owens became a monster to fight the monsters of the world.”
Fans on social media noticed that this could be a reference to an old Punk promo. Graves said during another segment, “you know everything they say on the Internet is true” and Michael Cole replied with “Yes, especially what they say on X.”
