Backstage News On Unused AEW Tag Team Titles Still Waiting To Debut

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has developed two sets of tag team championships over the past year—Inter-Generational Tag Team Titles and Women’s Tag Team Titles, according to a new report by Mark O’Brien of Bodyslam.net, but neither set has been introduced on television or used in storylines, .

The Inter-Generational Tag Team Championships were reportedly designed specifically for “father and son” duos, with early concepts involving names such as Ricky and Kerry Morton, and even Kerry Von Erich with one of his sons. The titles have also led to increased on-screen focus on Christian Cage and Nick Wayne, as well as Billy Gunn’s alliance with The Acclaimed and Anthony Bowens.

The report further suggests that AEW had creative plans for Cage and Wayne to feud with the Hurt Syndicate, with a possible betrayal storyline playing out during a championship match. While this angle was discussed as part of a long-term narrative, it has yet to be executed.

In addition, AEW also developed Women’s Tag Team Championships, though there has been no official announcement or on-screen tease of these titles. Sources say both championships have existed for over a year but remain unused due to shifting priorities and evolving creative plans.

There’s no word yet on when or if AEW plans to debut either set of championships.
