WWE star Royce Keys experienced a brutal beatdown at the end of Monday Night RAW, courtesy of “The Samoan Werewolf,” Jacob Fatu. Following this incident, there was speculation that Keys might have been legitimately injured, especially after Netflix edited out the blood in reruns of the show.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no truth to the rumors regarding Keys’ injury—he is not injured at all. Meltzer clarified that this was simply a standard storyline angle and not a cover-up for any real injury.
Keys has been working hard to gain momentum, and it would be unfortunate for all involved if his first significant push led to a legitimate sidelining. Currently, WWE appears to be setting up a feud between him and Fatu, which could result in some exciting matchups if executed well. While it may be premature for Keys to face Roman Reigns, proving himself against Fatu would prepare him for a future title shot.
A notable concern is whether fans will ever truly view Fatu as the villain in this storyline, as they have been hesitant to boo him so far.
