Despite AEW President and CEO Tony Khan’s promise to host a pay-per-view event in Texas in 2026, it seems that this may not come to fruition. In the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers Q&A, a fan inquired about Khan’s commitment to bringing an AEW pay-per-view to the San Antonio area this year.
Sean Ross Sapp elaborated that Khan’s comments are part of a recurring joke he enjoys playing on the fanbase. According to Sapp, Khan often tells various cities that he plans to bring a pay-per-view show there when the crowd is particularly enthusiastic, primarily to hype them up for the television tapings.
However, it appears this has become a running gag for Khan, suggesting there will not be an AEW pay-per-view in San Antonio later this year.
