Sting is hanging them up at AEW Revolution 2024.
On the latest installment of his “Hall Of Fame” podcast, two-time WWE Hall of Fame legend and WWE NXT commentator Booker T gave his thoughts on “The Icon” finally hanging up his wrestling boots.
Featured below are some of the highlights from the episode where he touches on this topic with his thoughts.
On how heโs happy that Sting is finally hanging them up after a hell of a career: “Iโm glad for him. Iโm glad heโs finally gonna hang it up and be able to move on to whatโs next. At 65 by then, thatโs like senior citizen, AARP stuff, man, grandpa like stuff. So I donโt know, man. Itโs mixed emotions. I think his retiring is gonna be great, but I think itโs something honestly thatโs well overdue. To have done this thing your whole life, then when you walk away from it, itโs hard to walk. Iโll tell you right now, he might not want to retire. He might want to say, I ainโt gonna say Iโm ever gonna retire. I might just want to leave the business. But retire though, I wouldnโt say that. Because Iโm gonna tell you right now, sitting at home, becoming an old man, receding, [laughs] it can get lonely. I say stay in the ring, Sting. Donโt retire. Donโt quit [laughs], donโt ever quit. Thatโs what wrestlers do. Thatโs me, thatโs my opinion.”
On how he thinks Sting should not retire from the sport and keep doors open so he can continue to make money from AEW: “Iโm just saying, I wouldnโt retire if I was you, Sting. Iโd stay in the ring forever. Take bumps, fly off of stuff [laughs]. Sting, Iโm just saying, I love Sting. Heโs got a hell of a career. I feel like if stopped doing this, thatโs when the light could really go dim. I say keep that door open. Make appearances, even if you donโt wrestle. Keep that door open. Keep that check coming in from Tony Khan for the next ten years.”
On how AEW will lose some of its identity without Sting: “You keep him active somehow. Heโs gotta be a part of that show. Sting goes away, a lot of part of that showโs blueprint goes away as well.”
