WWE Hall of Famer Booker T discussed various topics, including Chris Jericho’s success after WCW, on an episode of his Hall of Fame podcast.
Booker T said, “It didn’t surprise me at all. You can look at Jericho and never wonder how big he is, because he always worked so big. You just looked at his performance, and everything else went out the window. You just saw Chris. So when he went to WWE — not even a shadow of a doubt, I knew he was going to skyrocket. And then the position they put him in, coming in as Y2J, it was such a great way for him to come in, and it cemented how great this guy was really going to become. He went out and did the rest of the work himself. So no, I was not surprised, not even in the slightest, by how far Chris Jericho has gone, still to this day.”
On how important Jericho is to AEW:
“He was that legitimizer they needed, and he’s done a hell of a job sticking it out there and riding that thing out. Chris knows where the money is. He knows. He’s smart. He knows what the business is.”
