Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre didn’t mince words during a recent appearance on Impaulsive with Logan Paul, taking aim at the physical appearance of much of WWE’s current roster. With WWE’s global visibility increasing thanks to its upcoming move to Netflix, McIntyre says the company needs to look the part—and many Superstars fall short of that standard.
“They Look Like They Should Be Serving Me McDonald’s…”
McIntyre voiced frustration over the roster’s overall presentation, claiming that only a small percentage of WWE Superstars currently project the kind of larger-than-life image needed to thrive on a mainstream platform like Netflix. “These days, no offense, but 85% of our guys don’t look like they should be in WWE—on Netflix and stuff.”
He continued, “My buddies contact me and go, ‘Yo, I turned on wrestling to see what you’re up to… Logan Paul’s on there and he’s killing it. Roman Reigns, what a freaking star.’ Then there are these other guys that look like they should be serving me McDonald’s or whatever… and I’m like, ‘I could kick their ass.’”
McIntyre said this disconnect makes it difficult for casual fans to remain engaged and pointed out that initial impressions matter more than ever in today’s content-saturated world. “It takes me out of it. I’m like, yeah, they’re good at wrestling. Eventually, you’ll connect with them, but I’m not gonna watch long enough. It’s like, Jesus, guys—get in the freaking gym. At least get something that grabs your attention.”
McIntyre praised stars like Logan Paul and Roman Reigns for having the look and presence to captivate viewers the moment they appear onscreen.
He emphasized that this level of charisma and physical presentation should be the benchmark across the board. “Roman Reigns… what a freaking star. Comes on the screen, comes right off the screen. You [Logan Paul] are a freaking giant. That’s what people expect when they tune into WWE.”
McIntyre’s Own Transformation
In a revealing moment, McIntyre also shared that he’s committed to improving his own physique.
For the first time in his career, he’s working with a personal trainer and nutritionist, aiming to level up both physically and mentally. “I’ve gained 15 pounds in five weeks on a 6,000-calorie-a-day diet. I’ve never taken it this seriously before.”
As WWE heads toward SummerSlam and the next phase of its Netflix era, McIntyre’s fiery comments are sure to spark debate among fans and talent alike.
