Drew McIntyre’s expectations for WWE WrestleMania 40 did not come true.

On Saturday night, McIntyre challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, which took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was the first bout of the second night.

McIntyre finished with two claymore kicks. After the match, McIntyre celebrated with his wife at ringside before confronting CM Punk, who was providing commentary.

They exchanged words before McIntyre confronted Punk, who attacked him. This prompted Damian Priest to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and claim the title.

McIntyre joins Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Rollins, and John Cena as the only wrestlers to win a World Championship at WrestleMania with two or more World Titles. McIntyre had previously won the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in 2020.
