After finishing up with a big promotion like AEW or WWE, not everyone will pursue their wrestling careers. Some will retire and pursue another career, while others will remain in the wrestling industry by taking on different roles, such as announcer, producer, manager, or trainer.
Chris Hero has remained in the wrestling industry, albeit behind the scenes. Hero had success in ROH before joining WWE from 2011 to 2013, and he returned in 2016 for his second run, where he was used in NXT as well as working for the NXT UK brand.
Hero was released due to budget cuts in April 2020 and hasn’t wrestled since, though he began working as a full-time producer for AEW earlier this year.
He is set to face fellow former WWE star Timothy Thatcher in the main event of West Coast Pro Wrestling’s return to San Francisco, CA this Friday. Bryan Keith vs. Alpha Zo, Kevin Blackwood vs. Jiah Jewell, and West Coast Pro Wrestling Champion Starboy Charlie vs. Chris Bey are among the other matches scheduled for the show.
