WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, who currently serves as the Director of Business Development for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently appeared on an episode of his podcast, “My World with Jeff Jarrett.” During this episode, he discussed a variety of topics, including the match between Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega.
Jarrett said, “I just gotta say, at the end of the day, when you stack all the layers, and when you look at great trilogies, or good matchups, or heated rivalries, all that. And you have a guy like Omega and — you know, going through that serious, serious health situation, health scare. I don’t want to call it just an injury; a sickness, an illness, a surgery, the recovery time. How much did that really tax him? He has come back strong. And i may not know every match since he’s come back. Has he faced anybody at this level since his comeback? So layer that in there. Okada, you have to say, would be the visiting team. I think yes, Kenny is Canadian, but I think Omega would call this the home court. But is there a youth factor, a recovery factor, an injury factor. At the very core of it all, who wants it the most? Like, who is — at this stage of both guys ‘ careers, who’s the most comfortable in their legacy? Or does one of them really look at and say, ‘You know what? I really want this win to cement my legacy in my mind.’ And at the end of the day, that’s really all that matters to those two guys. Where do they stack up in their mind?”
On his prediction:
“If I’m a betting man Conrad, which I’m not. But on this, I just think it’s going to be very, very, very, very hard to bet against Kenny Omega. Because I just believe — yeah Okada, the greatest tournament wrestler maybe in history. But when it comes right down to it, and Omega coming back. In a lot of ways, he never thought he might not ever wrestle again. So maybe having a new lease on life, he’s dialed in. Okada with the wife and family, and maybe everything that goes with that. I’m going to tip the cap to my man, Kenny Omega, to get his hand raised at the end of the night and be the first Unified Champ.”
On Jon Moxley vs. “Hangman” Adam Page:
“One of my all-time favorite opponents is actually challenging for it. He was in the Owen last year and didn’t quite get the job done. For him to get a return into the tournament, march his way through that. Had one hell of a match against Ospreay. And I think you’re the first one that chuckled months ago and you said something in fact, ‘You know Jeff, a big belt buckle is the logo.’ I think you were the one that said that. So I chuckle now, thinking about this. I think without question, Moxley’s time is up. There’s been chinks in the armor of the Death Riders. And so I think Hangman and — s**t, a guy that is bilingual like that and could do a promo in Spanish? No, I do. I think he’s got all the momentum in the world. I see him walking out in Globe Life, the champion for sure.”
