Undisputed WWE Universal Champion John Cena is keeping busy both in and out of the ring, as he’s currently filming a new Netflix comedy titled Little Brother in Montclair, New Jersey, according to a report from Amy Kuperinsky of NJ.com.
The upcoming film stars Cena as a successful real estate agent whose world is turned upside down by the chaotic arrival of his estranged younger brother, played by comedian Eric André. The project is being helmed by director Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) and penned by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, known for Yes Man and The D-Train.
Production is in full swing, with scenes recently shot around Montclair. Interestingly, the shoot reportedly coincided with filming for another Netflix project — Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, which also features André in a supporting role. That film is scheduled to hit Netflix on July 25.
Cena, 48, continues to balance his Hollywood and wrestling careers at a high level. He recently appeared in the action-comedy Heads of State alongside Idris Elba and Priyanka Chopra, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2.
Despite his booming film schedule, Cena remains fully committed to WWE. He is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against 2025 King of the Ring winner Cody Rhodes in the main event of WWE SummerSlam, taking place Saturday, August 3rd.
With Little Brother and SummerSlam on the horizon, John Cena’s summer is shaping up to be one of his busiest — and most high-profile — in years.
