Reigning AEW International and NEVER Openweight Champion “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita won at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 19 and Wrestle Dynasty PPV by defeating Shingo Takagi to capture the NEVER Openweight Title on January 4 and defend it along with his AEW International Championship against Tomohiro Ishii the following night on January 5.
Immediately following his matchup at Wrestle Dynasty, Takeshita appeared in a backstage interview and said he has joined NJPW in addition to his already existing affiliations with AEW and DDT Pro.
The top AEW star has been part of DDT Pro Wrestling since 2012 and signed with All Elite Wrestling after several appearances with the company in November of 2022.
