AEW star Kyle Fletcher, a member of the Don Callis Family, discussed various topics with Forbes, including his feelings about being close to the AEW World Title.
Fletcher said, “I feel like this is going to be a very hard question to answer. I think I feel ready. I feel ready for it. I want the pressure that comes with it. I want to be the guy that is the face of the company, and I think the guy who has that championship, by proxy, becomes the face of the company.”
On why he feels ready to be the face of AEW:
“I want to be the man who’s taking that title anywhere and everywhere, getting it on TV shows in front of people. And I want to be that guy, and I feel like I’m ready to be that guy. It’s just not up to me, so I need to keep doing what I’m doing. I need to keep putting my best foot forward. I need to keep being the best version of myself, and when other people realize that I’m ready for that spot, then it will happen. I can’t put a timeline on it, really. It’s pretty hard to put a timeline on it. But I feel closer than ever, and I hope that it’s not too far off.”
On what he thinks will inspire the next evolution in wrestling:
“I honestly think just AEW in general is doing that, and it has been doing that. I think AEW is so important in the landscape of wrestling in general because now people realize that it’s okay to be different, that it’s okay for people to try new things. And if you don’t like one thing about wrestling, there is something else that you will love. And just because you don’t like one match or one person’s wrestling, that doesn’t mean you hate wrestling. Like, wrestling is everything. It’s anything. It can be anything, and I think AEW is part of the reason that people started to realize that. Before AEW was created, you had to go to the indies, you had to go somewhere else, and you had to go down a rabbit hole to even see it or find it. But now it’s so readily accessible, and it’s so easy to watch so much different wrestling. It’s literally at your fingertips. So I think that’s really important, and I think AEW is really at the forefront of that change.”
