Former AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose has addressed whether Tony Khan is responsible for her lengthy absence from AEW television.
Rose has not wrestled on AEW television since the end of 2024 and recently expressed frustration over her lack of opportunities. During a new conversation with Jasmin St. Claire, Rose was asked about the situation and pushed back against the idea that the AEW President is personally responsible.
Rose acknowledged that there may be aspects of the situation she cannot publicly discuss, but said her relationship and conversations with Khan have led her to believe the decision isn’t coming directly from him.
“I genuinely don’t think it’s him. I genuinely, genuinely don’t think it’s him. You know how they say, ‘Trust your gut.’ And this isn’t me just, like, glazing him because he’s my boss or anything like that. It’s just, there may be some things I can’t talk about, or, like, things I can only speculate on, but in my heart of hearts, just the relationship that we have and, like, the conversations that we have, I don’t think it’s him, you know?”
The comments follow Rose’s recent discussion with Denise Salcedo about her extended absence from AEW programming. At the time, she admitted that the situation had become frustrating because of her desire to contribute more.
“It is a little frustrating. You know, in this business, you do have to be a little bit selfish to a degree, right? You can be selfish while being selfless. And this, I think, is one of those moments. I want more for myself. I want to do more.”
While Rose has made her desire for more television time clear, she has now also stressed that she does not believe Khan himself is the reason she has remained away from AEW programming.
Rose did not elaborate on the factors behind her absence or provide a timetable for when fans could see her return to AEW television.
