Rey Mysterio will face Sheamus, Cameron Grimes, and LA Knight on WWE SmackDown tonight. The winner will face Santos Escobar on SmackDown next week, and the winner of that match will challenge Austin Theory for the United States title.
A United States title match at SummerSlam has yet to be confirmed. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, “the 7/28 final would seemingly lead into Summerslam but nine matches for the show is plenty and that U.S. title match could end up on television as well.”
WWE insider Boozer Rasslin revealed that a “new push” for LA Knight will begin after Summerslam and that WWE is “heavily considering” having a babyface Latino champion on television.
