Pro Wrestling WAVE star Sakura Hirota announced on Twitter (X) that she is stepping away from her in-ring career to pursue a political path. She has been appointed as the candidate for the Japan Innovation Party and will be running for the House of Councillors election in the Aichi Prefecture electoral district.
Hirota emphasized that she is voluntarily stepping back from Pro Wrestling WAVE.
Hirota wrote, “To all the fans who have always supported me and to all the Wave fans, I’m truly sorry for not being able to say a proper goodbye.
It was precisely because of Wave that I was able to balance raising my child and pursuing professional wrestling, which also led to advancing my wrestling career. My gratitude toward Wave remains unchanged, both now and in the future.
My involvement with professional wrestling will continue as a freelancer.
My ring name will remain the same, Shin Sakura Hirota.
However, for now, I will focus on political activities and the upcoming election campaign.”
Hirota is a former Wave Single Champion and two-time Wave Tag Team Champion.
