In a recent appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, AEW star Shelton Benjamin opened up about the reunion of The Hurt Syndicate and how the group’s current run compares to their time as The Hurt Business in WWE.
Benjamin, along with Bobby Lashley and MVP, currently reign as the AEW World Tag Team Champions, having reformed their dominant alliance in late 2024. Fans of WWE will remember the original faction—which also included Cedric Alexander—for its standout run during the pandemic era. Many still regard The Hurt Business as one of WWE’s most underutilized stables, cut short despite their popularity.
Reflecting on their AEW run, Benjamin didn’t hold back in expressing how much better the experience has been this time around:
“Well, first of all, being actually seen in front of a live crowd. That’s a good start,” Benjamin quipped. “But I think this time around we have a bit more control of our destiny, obviously, a lot more. What happened before, everything ended way prematurely. None of us were happy about that, and by us, I mean everyone. So the fact that we’re able to come here and give you the product that we want to give you and everything’s going great, we’re having the time of our lives.”
Benjamin’s remarks echo the sentiment many fans have shared—that The Hurt Business deserved a longer and more prominent spotlight. Now, with The Hurt Syndicate thriving in AEW, it seems Benjamin and his stablemates are finally getting that opportunity on their own terms.
