WWE signed another Olympic gold medalist, Tamyra Mensah-Stock, in May after inking a deal with Gable Steveson in 2021.

Mensah-Stock made history as the first Black woman to win gold in freestyle wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, becoming the Olympic champion at 68 kilograms.

She also won her second world championship in 2022, in Belgrade, Serbia. She is now putting an end to her amateur wrestling career in order to pursue a professional wrestling career.

Dave Meltzer reported in the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that her training at the WWE Performance Center has gone well.

Meltzer wrote, “Reports on Olympic gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock, who was the actual biggest name recent signing but has not debuted yet, are very strong. We’re told she’s doing great and taking to pro wrestling like a fish to water.”

She stated in the ESPN announcement article about her signing that she hoped to make the main roster within a year.
