WWE Hall of Famer โThe Million Dollar Manโ Ted DiBiase recently appeared on an episode of his โEverybodyโs Got a Podโ podcast, where he discussed a number of topics including the WWE locker room not being happy with Zeus being in the SummerSlam 1989 match teaming up with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Randy Savage to face Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake.
DiBiase said, โYeah. Iโm sure thereโs several guys who were not too crazy about it. I donโt even think Hogan was so crazy about it. Because I mean, I think Vince [McMahon] thought he could make anybody. And you know, we got out of Lister what he could, but that wasnโt much. I mean, there wasnโt much to work with.โ
On being upset with such a match:
โBrother, thatโs just wrestling. I mean, thereโs just going to be times when, you know โ hey, Iโve been all the way to the top, and I was there a long time. And I went back down and I didnโt go down to the bottom, but โ letโs put it this way. I was always in the group that was doing interviews. So if I was on a major show, I had done an interview for that match. I was never like the curb jerker, and you understand thatโs wrestling. Itโs like you keep feeding the guy at the top, your hero.โ
On Zeus having the spot:
โItโs like being the right guy, the right thing theyโre looking for at the right time. They were going to do this movie, and this guy fit the bill, so okay. But itโs a one-off. What else did he do? After that was over, you never heard about him again.โ
