According to PWInsider, WWE CEO Vince McMahon was backstage at WWE SmackDown in Madison Square Garden.
McMahon’s presence backstage is not surprising given that Madison Square Garden is considered WWE’s home arena and that New York City is not far from the company headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. McMahon has continued to run things remotely for the majority of this year, but has attended a few shows backstage.
The Trial of the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns was featured on this week’s stacked show. It is expected that a title match between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship at SummerSlam will be set up soon.
The show at Madison Square Garden was sold out.
