WWE viewers in Canada now have access to live French-language commentary across the company’s major programming on Netflix.
Pat Laprade announced the change on September 8, confirming that he and Kevin Raphael will provide live French commentary for Raw, NXT, SmackDown and WWE Premium Live Events.
The move means Laprade and Raphael’s French-language coverage will now be produced alongside the live broadcasts, allowing them to experience and call the action at the same time as viewers.
According to Laprade, the pair had already worked on more than 300 WWE broadcasts for Netflix before making the transition to live commentary.
Laprade also highlighted his and Raphael’s nine years of experience calling WWE programming together, describing the move as an opportunity to bring a different energy to their coverage by reacting to developments as they happen.
Their presentation will continue to incorporate elements of Quebec culture, including expressions and terminology familiar to their French-speaking audience, while maintaining their established approach to calling professional wrestling.
The live French-language commentary option is available to Netflix viewers in Canada across WWE’s weekly television programming and Premium Live Events.
