WWE Smackdown Review – March 29, 2024

Tag Team Match
Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) vs. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens wastes no time firing off right hands on Kit Wilson then follows it up with a back elbow and a senton then tags in Randy Orton.

Elton Prince tags in and Orton lands a right hand in the corner on him.

He follows it up with a headbutt then rains down more right hands and whips him into the opposite corner. Wilson tags in and Orton sends him crashing to the outside.

Prince sends Orton out there to join him and Wilson sends him crashing into the ring steps.

Prince then sends Orton crashing on top of the announce table as we go to a break.

After the break Owens & Prince tag in & Owens fires off right hands on Prince then hits a kick to his face and turns him inside out with a clothesline.

He follows it up with an Atomic Drop and a DDT then ascends to the top rope and hits a Swanton Bomb. Prince gets his knees up and Wilson pulls Orton off the apron.

Orton sends Wilson’s face bouncing off the announce table then clears it.

Prince comes to Wilson’s aid and United States Champion Logan Paul slides out from under the ring.

He lands a right hand on Owens in the ring as the referee is distracted by the commotion on the outside. Prince slides back in the ring and pins Owens for the win.

Winners: Pretty Deadly

After the match Orton yells at Owens and asks him what happens. However he gets an answer when a video showing what Paul just did begins playing on the Titan Tron. Orton hops out of the ring and looks under the apron to find Paul. He fires off right hands on him then sends his face bouncing off the barricade and gets him on top of the announce table. He fires off right hands on him but Pretty Deadly begins going after Orton and beating him down. Owens comes to Orton’s aid and lands a Stunner on Prince. Orton then hits an RKO to Wilson and stares down Paul on the outside. He chases him to the back through the crowd and Owens meets them up on the ramp. Paul keeps running and steals a car before he drives off.

After the break we head over to a video of Women’s Champion Iyo Sky discussing her time with Bayley in Damage CTRL. She says that Bayley recruited her & Dakota Kai so that she could take the credit for their hard work. She says Bayley loves to play victim and calls her hypocritical. She says that she made Bayley relevant again and while both she & Kai stood by her side, they grew tired. She says she did what had to be done and says there was a time that Bayley was a friend. She says she will always regret that time and says she hopes she never sees Bayley again after WrestleMania. The producer tells Sky that they’re finished but Bayley appears out of nowhere and attacks Sky. She tosses one of the lights onto her then goes crashing through the backdrop with her. Officials then appear to separate them.

Nick Aldis asks Uncasville who is ready for WrestleMania then says he’s had one goal as Smackdown General Manager to make SmackDown the #1 show in all of sports entertainment. He says the acquisition of the following Superstar makes him closer to that goal and introduces Jade Cargill.

Cargill’s music hits and she makes her way down to the ring. Cargill signs the contract in Aldis’ hand to make her officially part of Smackdown then takes the mic he hands her. Cargill says it’s about damn time then says now that pen has been put to paper, she’ll make herself crystal clear. She says WWE has one of the best women’s rosters in the world, but they aren’t her, they aren’t the headline and they aren’t a once in a lifetime Superstar. She then provides a weather update and says the storm has arrived.

After the break we see Isla Dawn talk fast to Nick Aldis about ideas she has for her and Alba Fyre’s entrance but Fyre drags her away. AJ Styles then appears and asks Aldis if he kept his word and made sure LA Knight was not in the arena tonight. Aldis confirms that he did.

Finals Of The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles Qualifying Tournament (Bracket 2)
A Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)

Grayson Waller & Montez Ford lock up & Ford lands a back elbow but Waller clocks him and tags in Austin Theory.

A Town Down Under looks to land a double suplex but Ford escapes and tags out to Angelo Dawkins.

Waller sends Ford crashing to the outside with a right hand but Dawkins surprises him with a shoulder tackle that sends him crashing over the announce table as we go to a break.

After the break Waller looks to fly off the middle rope but Dawkins catches him and plants him with a suplex. Theory & Ford tag in and Ford hits a back elbow to him off the top rope.

He follows it up with a shoulder tackle and a clothesline then plants him with a back suplex and a standing moonsault then goes for a pin but Theory kicks out.

Dawkins tags in and gets Theory in an electric chair position as Ford ascends to the top rope.

Ford hits a blockbuster and Dawkins goes for a pin but Waller breaks the fall and dumps Ford out of the ring but Dawkins clocks him.

Theory rolls up Dawkins but Dawkins kicks out.

Theory hits a jawbreaker off the top rope and looks for a rolling Stunner but Dawkins counters into a spinebuster.

Ford tags in and begins to ascend to the top rope but becomes distracted when he sees Bobby Lashley & B Fab laid out in their dressing room on the Titan Tron.

Karrion Kross & Scarlett are seen leaving taking their champagne with them and Dawkins begins storming to the back.

Ford ascends to the top rope and looks to land From The Heavens but Theory counters into a pinfall for the win.

Winners & Gets Into The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles Ladder Match: A Town Down Under

After the match Authors of Pain attacks Street Profits as Kross, Scarlett & Paul Ellering march down to the ring. AOP hits Super Collider to Street Profits. Bobby Lashley marches down to the ring as officials try to stop him then clocks Kross. AOP double team on him and Kross berates Lashley.

Santos Escobar says he hates to be but he told fans so. He gloats about putting Rey Mysterio on the shelf for months and beating him last week then introduces Dominik Mysterio. Dominik’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Escobar thanks Dominik for helping him win last week and says while they didn’t see eye 2 eye at first, he was ultimately right. He then hugs Dominik & Dominik says he will do everything in his power to make his deadbeat’s father’s life a living hell. Escobar says Rey always turns his back on the people he loves the most.

Rey Mysterio’s music hits, and he makes his way down to the ring along with the rest of LWO. Rey tells Dominik he thought he was done fighting him but Escobar dragged him into the issues between LWO & Legado Del Fantasma. He says it’s a divine intervention that the 2 men he hates the most are in front of him because he can beat some respect into them both then challenges Dominik & Escobar to a tag team match at WrestleMania with a partner of his choosing. Dominik asks which of the dorks from LWO will be Rey’s tag team partner and Rey says it will be the newest member of LWO: Dragon Lee.

Lee’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Zelina Vega & Elektra Lopez then get in one another’s faces and Lopez mocks Vega. Vega slaps Lopez leading to them stables brawling with one another. Carlito & Dominik brawl in the center of the ring as Rey dumps Escobar to the outside. Dominik looks to dial it up for 619 on Rey but Carlito sends Dominik crashing out of the ring and Lee hits a Swanton off the top rope to level Legado Del Fantasma on the outside.

After the break we see Dominik Mysterio apologize to an angry Judgment Day for not informing them about joining forces with Legado Del Fantasma.

Finals Of The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles Qualifying Tournament (Bracket 1)
Legado Del Fantasma (Angel & Humberto) vs. New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate)

Humberto tags in & he lands a right hand on Pete Dunne’s spine then tags Angel back in.

Angel hits a kick to Dunne’s midsection before Dunne begins wearing down Angel’s fingers then tags in Bate.

Bate hits a back elbow to Angel and a knee to his face then follows it up with an uppercut off the middle rope.

He hits Humberto with a standing moonsault and a hurricanrana that sends him crashing out of the ring.

He then flies off the top rope and over Dunne to take down LDF on the outside as we go to a break.

After the break Bate tags in and gets Humberto up on his shoulders.

Humberto tags out to Angel & Angel helps out Humberto then Humberto powerbombs Bate & Angel follows it up with a springboard moonsault.

Humberto sits Bate on the top rope then tags in Angel before LDF send Bate crashing off the top rope and Angel goes for a pin but Dunne breaks the fall.

Dunne & Humberto then begin brawling but Angel takes out Dunne.

Bate lands a strike on Humberto then tags in Bate & New Catch Republic hits Birmingham Hammer for the win.

Winners & Gets Into The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles Ladder Match: New Catch Republic

We head over to a video showing what happened in the closing moments of Monday’s episode of Raw.

Backstage Paul Heyman revealed that The Rock took down Cody Rhodes at the order of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns before Jimmy Uso announced that Jey Uso will face Solo Sikoa next week.

AJ Styles says it’s been a little over a week and blames fans for being the reason LA Knight came to his house and attacked him in his front yard. He says he has big plans for LA Knight and he wants the biggest possible. He says although Nick Aldis promised LA Knight isn’t in the arena, he still thinks it is. He says Knight could be anywhere and kicks the cameraman standing in the ring out. A masked person jumps the barricade and Styles calls on security. He takes off the man’s mask to reveal a random person and demands security drag him away.

The camera pans out to reveal Knight in disguise as a security guard. He takes off his hat, wig and glasses then attacks Styles and fires off stomps on him in the corner. He then hits a running knee and grabs a chair. Styles rolls out of the ring and retreats through the crowd.

Knight then grabs a mic and stands up on the announce table. He tells Styles that he’s the biggest piece of human walking waste he’s ever seen. He tells Styles to run, hide and do whatever else he needs because he will know whose game it is at WrestleMania with everybody saying his name.

Bianca BelAir vs. Dakota Kai

Bianca BelAir & Dakota Kai waste no time as BelAir tosses Kai across the ring then lands a shoulder on her midsection and tosses her across the ring once again.

She follows it up with a pair of suplexes and looks for a 3rd one but Kai escapes and rocks BelAir with a knee to the side of her head as we go to a break.

After the break BelAir fights her way out of a sleeper hold Kai has locked in on her and lands a delayed vertical suplex.

She rains down right hands on her in the corner but Kai pulls on Belair’s braid to escape.

BelAir hits a tilt a whirl backbreaker then sends Kai crashing into the mat face first and looks to land a springboard moonsault.

Kai avoids it and pulls on BelAir’s braid but BelAir looks to land a springboard moonsault for a 2nd time and hits it.

Kai stomps on BelAir’s spine then mocks her and lands a series of kicks.

BelAir trips Kai and hits a double ax handle to her spine before they go back & forth exchanging right hands.

Kai hits a Scorpion Kick to BelAir and looks to land a running boot but BelAir moves out of the way and sets up for KOD.

Kai escapes and BelAir catches her with a superplex then follows it up with a Spear follow by KOD for the win.

Winner: Bianca BelAir

After the match Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors immediately appear and begin attacking BelAir. Naomi runs down to even the odds and beats down Kabuki Warriors. She lands a kick on Asuka but Kairi Sane gains the upper hand and begins beating down Naomi with Asuka. BelAir looks to help Naomi but Damage CTRL overpower her and continue beating down her and BelAir. Jade Cargill’s music hits and she slowly makes her way down to the ring. She lands a pump kick on Asuka then hits a powerbomb to Kai and hits Jaded to Sane. She stands tall with BelAir & Naomi in the ring to close out this week’s Smackdown.
