Matt Hardy Shares His Thoughts On The Mariah May And Toni Storm Attack Angle

Pro wrestling veteran Matt Hardy took to an episode of his โ€œExtreme Life of Matt Hardyโ€ podcast, where he talked about a number of topics including the angle where Mariah May turned on Toni Storm on the July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite after earning a Womenโ€™s Title shot against Storm at All In by winning the Womenโ€™s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Hardy said, โ€œI thought it was great, I really did. And I compliment AEW on going there. And I love the violence, I love the viciousness. Because it made it mean so much more in so many ways, that she was so violent. She was just like a killer, whenever she decided to flip the script on Toni Storm. So I was all about that. You know, I had Mariah May winning the deal right from the jump. And I thought it was very cool that they pulled the trigger there. Because you could tell they were about to pull the trigger soon. But I thought the way they did the angle was excellent, and kudos for AEW for doing it that wayโ€ฆ The Mariah May story with Toni Storm is great, and I am a fan of it. Iโ€™m a fan of what theyโ€™ve done. Iโ€™m a fan of how they changed gears and went really vicious and really violent, and now can get dark and serious and personal.โ€

On Bryan Danielson beating Hangman Page to win the Menโ€™s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament:

โ€œThat was a match which, I would have guessed initially going in that they were going to do Hangman-Swerve again at All In. But I thought it was very cool that Bryan Danielson won. I was all about that. I thought that felt kind of unpredictable. And you know, itโ€™s cool. I loved it because from a storytelling aspect, Hangman has been so good these couple weeks that heโ€™s been back. And the fact that he is so angry and so furious. Heโ€™s just apoplectic in life, right? In every single thing, and especially he is obsessed over Swerve and this championship.โ€

โ€œAnd the fact that he didnโ€™t get the opportunity, I think, motivates him to be even worse and just sends his character in more of a downward spiral in some ways. So I dug that he told The Elite โ€˜Noโ€™ right from the jump, but then he agreed to team with them just following this loss. So itโ€™s interesting, and I know you just said you can see something where he ends up being in that match. And I could see that working as well. But I did think Bryan Danielson winning was a good call and something that felt unpredictable. And I think predictability is always good.โ€
