AEW star Will Ospreay recently sat down for an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, where he shared a candid and unexpected perspective on his eventual retirement from professional wrestling. Unlike many legendary figures who plan grand farewell tours or emotional send-offs, Ospreay envisions a sudden and controversial exit from the industry.
On Thinking About Retirement:
โI donโt like thinking of it.โ
Rather than gradually stepping away from the spotlight, Ospreay expects to walk away without warning, leaving fans and the industry in shock.
โI think I will one day just disappear. I will just go, โAh, this is me.โ I wonโt have anything really.โ
Ospreay contrasted his vision for retirement with the traditional emotional goodbyes that have become common in wrestlingโsuch as Stingโs recent farewell. However, instead of a heartfelt farewell, Ospreay wants to go out in the most unexpected way possible.
โI will grab the microphone on live TV and say the C word, and then just drop the mic, ruin this, and then Iโll just go be a postman somewhere.โ
Doubling down on his desire to exit in the most Ospreay-esque way possible, he even described a potential scenario:
โLike that big Sting retirement, where everyoneโs coming out, cupping their hands, tears in their eyes, and I just grab the microphone and go, โC*nt!โ Thatโs the way I want to go out.โ
While his comments were clearly tongue-in-cheek, they encapsulate Ospreayโs rebellious and unpredictable nature, which has been a hallmark of his wrestling career.
