United States Championship title holder Jacob Fatu has some bold plans set out this summer. The 33-year-old completed a title match success over Jeff Cobb, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest at the Backlash event and is now looking to defend the title at the 2025 WWE SummerSlam in New Jersey, which takes place in early August in New Jersey.
Fatu, who made his wrestling debut in 2012, enjoys a great deal of support, and his presence at the wildly successful WWE SummerSlam event will no doubt thrill many fans.
The WWE SummerSlam first took place in 1988 and has always attracted a huge audience. The first event took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City and saw legends such as Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage do battle, and the 2025 event will no doubt be a sell-out long before it gets underway on August 2nd.

Almost 58,000 were in attendance at the last SummerSlam, which took place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium and saw Jacob Fatu appear on the bill as part of The Bloodline, where he appears alongside fellow stablemates Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.
A very confident Fatu had already outlined his plans in the ring, stating prior to his appearance at the SummerSlam.
“It’s gonna be setting the table for what’s gonna be the greatest SummerSlam of all time. I mean, it’s already guaranteed to be that.”
“So, I’m hoping that at Backlash I could win the United States Championship for a second time. Then go on and defend it, hopefully have Money In The Bank, and then defend it again here in front of the hometown.”
If you wanted evidence of just how incredibly popular the WWE event is, it should be noted that front row tickets for this year’s SummerSlam range from $1400 to $5000, and you can be sure they will all be sold out.
The WWE completed a deal with Netflix to broadcast Raw events last year, and this runs from 2025 onwards and was worth a reported astonishing $5 billion. Pop superstar Cardi B will host the event, which again illustrates the cross-promotional pulling power that wrestling enjoys in the United States.
The announcement for Cardi B’s hosting of the event was posted on social media, with the Bodak Yellow and I Like It hitmaker stating.
“What’s up, WWE universe?”
“Guess what? SummerSlam. MetLife. Two nights. And I will finally be hosting.”
“And nobody better try me,”
“We gonna turn up!” Cardi B added enticingly.
The biggest news in relation to the upcoming SummerSlam is, of course, the fact that this will be the last one that John Cena will be an in-ring performer, and that alone is worth the price of admission!
