On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy shared his take on the event’s outcomes, offering praise and perspective on both winners. Hardy expressed strong support for Naomi, calling her victory both “deserving” and “personal.”
“I like Naomi winning,” Hardy said. “I think she’s someone who deserves it. She’s someone who can be the flag bearer of the division. So I’m totally cool with that, and I’m happy for her, on a personal level, that she won.”
Naomi’s victory has been seen by many as a long-overdue reward for her consistent work and growing popularity since returning to WWE earlier this year. The briefcase could serve as a springboard to a long-awaited top-tier championship run.
The bigger surprise, however, was Seth Rollins walking away as Mr. Money in the Bank once again. With the field filled with rising stars and future main-eventers, many assumed the match would serve to elevate a fresh face into the title picture. Hardy acknowledged this sentiment but said the move aligns with WWE’s apparent goal to further solidify Rollins as “the guy.”
“The Seth Rollins thing is fine,” Hardy continued. “We thought it was a red herring. I thought they would use this to elevate someone else. But they really have all of their momentum behind Seth Rollins right now, and they’re gonna do everything they can to make Seth Rollins the guy.”
Rollins previously cashed in his 2014 briefcase in legendary fashion at WrestleMania 31, and fans are now speculating whether history could repeat itself—perhaps at SummerSlam or Survivor Series.
