WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has provided a direct update on the condition of his longtime friend and fellow Hall of Famer Charles Wright, best known to fans as The Godfather, following a frightening truck crash last weekend.
Speaking on his “Rikishi Fatu Off The Top” podcast, Rikishi confirmed he reached out to The Godfather immediately after learning of the accident through social media.
“I talked to him. You know, as soon as I seen that post on social media… Godfather was close friends with the family, BSK, and so I gave him a holler,” Rikishi shared. “He picked up right off the bat… it was great just to hear that he was okay.”
Rikishi then detailed what The Godfather told him about the accident, which took place while he was driving through Wisconsin.
“From my understanding of the story, what he said was, you know, he was riding up in Wisconsin someplace… he was in the Dodge truck, and the guy, both of them, there was no drinking, no nothing, but it was just one of those rainy days, right?” he explained. “And he said they hit a puddle. When they hit a puddle, the truck slid, and it went up the bank. When it went up the bank, it turned around, and then it flipped three times over.”
Fortunately, The Godfather and his passenger survived without serious injury—something Rikishi credited to the truck’s advanced safety features.
“As it was flipping, he says that, you know, the airbags came out from the front of the dashboards. And I guess with the Dodge trucks, they have the side airbags that’s in the doors,” Rikishi revealed. “And he says that’s what saved their lives.”
Rikishi, clearly emotional, expressed immense gratitude that his brother in the business walked away from the ordeal.
“So much death going on. Man… When it happens to some of the boys that are out there that that’s a real, true friend to yourself and the family, you know, you just kind of get that… feeling like, ‘Man, I hope that, I hope he’s okay.’… He’s good. God is great.”
