WWE Initially Had An Issue With AEW Presence In The Miz’s New Show

According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE was the party that initially raised concerns about AEW talent appearing on the upcoming “American Gladiators” reboot—not AEW.

The rebooted competition series will be hosted by WWE’s The Miz and is set to include AEW stars Wardlow and Kamille as part of the cast. This has created a rare crossover where active WWE and AEW talent are featured in the same mainstream television project.

The situation is further complicated by Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2, which includes major roles for AEW’s MJF and WWE’s Becky Lynch. Notably, during the June 16 episode of WWE Raw, a promotional ad for the movie aired—but MJF was edited out of the spot, despite his prominent role in the film.
